When God Made Police Officers
When the Lord was creating Police Officers, He was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one." And the Lord said, "Have you read the requirements on this order? A Police Officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn't touch, and not wrinkle their uniform." "They have to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a homicide scene that night, canvass the neighborhood for witnesses, and testify in court the next day." "They have to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half-eaten meals, and they have to have six pairs of hands." The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands . . . no way!!" "It's not the hands that are causing me problems," said the Lord, "it's the three pairs of eyes an officer has to have." "That's on the standard model?" asked the angel. The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through a bulge in a pocket before they ask, 'May I see what's in there, sir?'" (when they already know and wish they'd taken that accounting job) "Another pair here in the side of their head for their partner's safety, and another pair of eyes here in front so they can look reassuringly at a bleeding victim and say, 'You'll be alright, ma'am,' when they know it isn't so." "Lord," said the angel, touching His sleeve, "rest and work on this tomorrow." "I can't," said the Lord, "I already have a model that can talk a 250 pound drunk into a patrol car without incident and feed a family of five on a civil service paycheck." The angel circled the model of the Police Officer very slowly. "Can it think?" she asked. "You bet," said the Lord, "it can tell you the elements of a hundred crimes, recite Miranda warnings in its sleep, detain, investigate, search, and arrest a gang member on the street in less time than it takes five learned judges to debate the legality of the stop . . . and still it keeps its sense of humor. This officer also has phenomenal personal control. They can deal with crime scenes painted in hell, coax a confession from a child abuser, comfort a murder victim's family, and then read in the daily paper how law enforcement isn't sensitive to the rights of criminal suspects." Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the Police Officer. "There's a leak," she pronounced, "I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model." "That's not a leak," said the Lord. "It's a tear." "What's the tear for?" asked the angel. "It's for bottled-up emotions, for fallen comrades, for commitment to that funny piece of cloth called the American flag, for justice." "You're a genius," said the angel. The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put it there," He said

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to write here. I remember being sworn in at a DARE conference as the western Massachusetts representative. We in western Mass were never represented too well at the DARE conferences. Bob, you shook my hand, congradulated me and said what an honor it was to have me on the board. Brother, the honor was mine. I learned so much from you and the other board members. Most of all though what I learned was the importance of my family. I want to thank you for teaching that to me. I'm still on the job, as a Fed now, but it's time to retire to something else.
I will pray for you and your family daily. I'm sure that your strength, compassion, and love has taught them to be the same way. God Bless.
welll im a few weeks late, but it was 3 years ago on november 5th that you died, and youve been on my mind a lot lately. just wanted to drop by and say hello and let you know that i miss and love youu, you're on my mind every day. your the reason i got so into what i love the most in my life, soccer. well i hope things are going good up there, i know you're watching over me.

Bob you definatley impacted alot of people in such a positive way, I hope your looking down with so much pride of yourself. I still think about how unfairly your life was taken away. I can still remember what your ordered in subway the night before. It was different then your usual order and you came in going on about how you liked this new sandwich(roasted chicken). I know the person who took you away from us wont be in jail for long and I dont think that is fair to you, Mitch, Alec, and everyone else whose life you touched. Swansea is not the same without you. I admire you so much Officer Bob and to know that you taught D.A.R.E for free shows everyone what a good person you were. I hope you can rest knowing that you made a difference to so many kids. There are tons that never did drugs because of what you taught them. I am proud to say I have never taken drugs. You made a difference to me. Thank you, and be well. Close

I didn't know you, but i'm kinda friends with alec. He sits at my table at lunch. Getting to know him, a year after that happened, makes it weird to look at this site. If i knew alec a year and a half ago, i'd probrably be affected by your death then. But Alec told me he went to court today, and i just did some googling on you. I started to cry honestly. Reading what people thought about you and how great of a man you were. And how alec put your picture in his wallet when he got it. It kinda makes me realize that like, wow. A great person has died for a stupid reason. We are really sorry that this happend and we will probrably be thinking about you more often after visiting your website. I'm sorry to everyone that knew you, and hopefully things have gotten better.

i know its a little late but its been a little over a year and now people are missing you more than ever. i had a soccer game on the 5th of November and i said i was gonna play my hardest for you, and i did. i miss you now more than ever and so does blaire gagne and sarah cavarlho and basically everyone who was lucky enough to know you. you were the best and the rest of the angels are lucky to have you with them. thanks for everything over the zillion years you were my coach. love and miss you.

Hi Bob, well thinking about you and your family today, a year ago today you received your angel wings, you are with such beatuiful people one of them being my mom. Bob I know firsthand how difficult the day was for your family and with your boys being so young, how do they understand, when us adults don't? Well Bob please guide Nancy and Pat as they are doing a great job with the boys, how hard it must be for a mother to know her boys are carrying the pain of losing their dad. officer bob..it is one year today when you passed away. It seems like yesterday when my neigbor called us up in the morning to tell us the news.When i got up out of bed my mom told me and cried.My mom though cried out all her tears in the next few days that she couldnt litterally cry anymore.She couldnt even drive past where your accident took place without bursting out crying. I know it has been 1 year but i still think of you everyday.Every time i pass where the accident took pace i do the sign of the cross...i didnt forget to do it once. I live right near where it happened so i have passed it millions of times. I know i didnt for get once to do the isgn of the cross. I miss you officer bob..I love you and you will always be in my heart.<3
