A day with Alec  / Nancy
Hi Bob, we ordered your gravestone today. It's beautiful. Alec designed most of it himself. It is going to take a few months to come in because we had to special order it. I'm sorry it won't be ready for Memorial Day. It was a very surreal day. We wish you were still here . Alec and Mitch were sharing some great stories about when we lived on Quaker Lane. I'll share them with you later. Until then, rest in peace Bob. Close

Hey Bob,

Sorry I haven't been on for awhile, but u have always been in my thoughts. It is so nice to see that people are returning to this sight to enjoy it, because that is what it was made for, not just for the family, but for anyone that just wanted to share there feelings.  It really hurt to hear that people where advised not to visit this website because it was just for the family. That statement is so so far from true, Donna that created this website created it for all to enjoy and to visit often to find peace in each other. Guide them back to this site Bob, because so many need to feel the comfort that this site brings to all that visit it.  

Bob continue to show us the light at the end of the tunnel. Your sons are surrounded by love and positive energy, and they have you as their guardian angel. They miss u greatly, but their pride and love for you just keeps growing within them. Shine the light for Nancy, keep her under your wing and continue to give her the strength to always be the great mother that she always has been to your sons. I know u must find peace in knowing that Mitch and Alec have a great step father in Pat and that he will always love and protect them. 

As spring and baseball are here, the loss of u is going to be more evident. Watch over the baseball field as the kids will always look for your essesence there. 

Thanks for all that you have given us, and for still being with all of us.

Honoring a good man  / Trish Gersbach (Friend and associate )
First and Formost, I want to say that I am proud to post on this webpage, and I thank those responsible for its' creation. They gave many people a place where they could share thoughts and memories of a good man, and it is a positive place. As most of you know, the dare program was presented this year, thanks to a dedicated and honorable Police Chief, school resource officer Shane Mello, and Brian Leonard from the Somerset Police Department, who stepped forward to give this program to the children in Swansea. I deeply appreciate the hard work and sacrifices that went into presenting this program this year under these very difficult circumstances, and I am enormously thankful to these individuals , as we all should be. Bob would be thankful and very very proud. Swansea Friends of dare is near the end of its annual fundraising drive. For years, in fact, since Bob started to teach the dare program, we had worked with him to provide funding for the program. When the state stopped providing any funds at all, Bob continued on teaching at no expense for the town, and we worked to make sure he had what he needed to continue the program. I share this information, because, this year, the people of this town, and surrounding areas as well as businesses, have been generous to this drive in memory of all that Bob and all he did for his town. . We deeply appreciate that. The contributions of each and every one of you will insure that all the needs of the dare program this year can and will be met. There is a little known fact that I would be remiss if I did not include here, and I know in my heart that Bob would want me to so state it. Nancy McKenna has been a strong support not only for the Swansea Friends of dare, but for the dare program, for more than ten years. She has been there as long as Friends of dare has. We could always count on her for anything, and so could Bob, right down to writing out the diplomas, and selling candles. As to Swansea Friends of dare, she has continually provided financial and moral support, sold tickets, and anything else we could think of , even making popcorn for our events and sweeping floors after a wrestling match. I could not say enough. She is an honorable woman and an asset to our organization. No job or favor asked of her was too big or too small. Bob need not ever worry about his boys. He left them the best example they could ever look up to, and now, they have the wonderful example of their mother and their step-dad and friend Pat who will make sure they continue on a good path. I am personally very proud and honored to have been working along side Bob all these years. I hope that the dare program will be able to continue and that we all will contribute what we can to make that possible. When we say a prayer for Bob tonite, may we say a special thank you to those special individuals who made sure that the dare program continued on this year in a way that Bob would be proud of. Close

Today as I was passing by the Police Station my thoughts of you were very vivid.
I see you all around town and I have to smile. Even though you may have left us to early, you will always be here in spirit, to help out any way that you can. You have made a big impression on a lot of peoples lives. I feel honored to have been in a town that keeps the memories and love of such a respected and kind person. I am very lucky to have this wonderful web site to express my feelings to you and all of those who love you. 
Although today I need some of your guidence. I hope you can help. I have been writing to you and lighting candles for you and the boys for some time now and  I get an update email every time some one pays tribute or lights a candle for you on the site and I read them all. It gives me such a great feeliing to know that there's people out there that feel the same as I do.  I wish there were more people that would go on this site and express their feelings to you and the boys. This site is not only for a few to express themselves, it's for everyone. Not only does it help the boys, it also helps the rest of the family and friends that knew you and miss you as well.  Some people have been lead to beleive that this site is only for the family and it's not. It's for anyone who would like to write to you and the rest of the family.  So if you could please some how guide all of the other people who need a place to share there memories or just want to feel closer to you and  your family,  to this wonderful web site. I know you have been very busy watching over everybody and even though you are not here keeping the peace, I know you are trying your darnedest to do what you can from up there. Know that Mich and Alec are well loved and I  hope you hear my prays for those who need to get past the anger and begin to become close again for the sake of the family. We all miss you. Close

I met a mother at family night at the Junior High last Friday. I was sad to hear that she was told by someone that this website was private and she should not post on it.That is absolutely not true.  She and her children were very close to Bob. This website is for anyone who would like to visit and light a candle for Bob or tell a nice story. All we ask is that the postings are of a positive nature. Alec and Mitchell visit this site from time to time and it would be sad for them or anyone else to read anything that is ill-willed. So please feel free to visit this site anytime to view the videos, light a candle, or just put your feelings down. Sometimes it really makes you feel better. Close

Well Bob, Baseball season is here. They were going to retire the Yankees team in honor of you, but Alec got real upset about it. He said he was proud of your team and that you would want the team to still be around. So the Little League committee got together and voted to keep the team alive. What a good boy. He knows that what the league was trying to do  was a nice idea, but being on the Yankees must make him feel closer to you. Patrick is going to coach the team this year.  Mitchell asked Pat if he could help out because he remembers alot of your plays and techniques. I am so glad that he wants to be part of this and Pat is thrilled that he asked. All in all, they are doing pretty good. They miss you though,.....always will. Close

Bob, I always find myself taking a second glance at the new red mustangs driving by, hoping to see your big smile and your bald head. I miss seeing you on the weekends at Cathay Pearl greeting everyone, making sure everyone is going home safely. I will never forget the long heart to heart talks i had with you, just so you know i took your advice on those things, and they are working out much better "thanks".. There is not enough room on this website for all the thanks people have for you. I have known you since i was 4 and still remember walking to cumberland farms, seeing you in your police cruiser at Negus Lumber i would be so excited to talk to you, then growing up just having you to be able to rely on for talks or just for friendly hellos.!! You were always there for me for good and bad, and i could never forget that. I so appreciate that, it means the world to me. Wish i could give you a big hug, love and miss you.. Mia Plante Close

i miss you so much officer bob. The whole schol does.  I remember the first time you coached me in soccer. you were kinda my 1st coach and taught me so much i no now. You always made everyone laugh. My third and 4th year u werent my coach but alec was on my team so u were at my games. the last time i talked to u was at a soccer tournament. You were ref. You stopped talking to all the refs just to come over and say hi to me. My mom took it very hard after the accident. she cried for days and finally ran out of tears. I also remember that the first day of school we came bac after everything and everyone was crying. we couldnt even get through a lesson in first period because everyone burst out in tears. ill always miss u officer bob and i will always try my best in soccer just for you. i love u officer bob             -sam Close

It's funny how writing down your thoughts sometimes helps.  Anyway, last night I had to drop off some papers at the little league fields for shayne to play ball this year.  And while I was there, I couldn't help to look around, somehow expecting to see you there somewhere smiling at me.  It's funny how I still do that.  We had Alec here the other night, he had me in stitches.  He was telling us about some of the DARE conventions you took him and Mitchell to.  He is a wonderful kid.  Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I am always thinking of you.  take care

Hi Bob, Pat and I went to a friends house on St. Patrick's Day for supper.There were alot of your friends there too. We all made a toast to you. I had one beer the entire night. Thanks to you, we are all a little smarter and safer. I know you never drank or enjoyed the taste of alcohol. There are many people,(myself included) that enjoy a relaxing cocktail once in a while. What I am trying to say is that with every choice we make, comes responsibility. I will always make sure that my friends and loved ones get home safe if they are with me. It's the other guy out on the road that you have no control of. You,of all people did not deserve what happened to you. Your positive influence and many sacrafices will never be fogotten. Close

Hi Bob, Well Happy St Patricks Day, I know you are celebrating with all the Irish, and nobody gets arrested, how great a party is that?  Well I know you found your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, because look at where you are and where we are? You are surrounded by beauty and happiness ~ I know the most important people too make you most happy are your two lil boys, well not so lil - they are growing boys, but one day you will be reunited with them, until then. Take care Well I dont want to keep you from that celebration.  You can have Steven - Heathers fiance grandpa play the guitar for you, I hear he is great - look for him he is one of the new angels and you will find him with his wife and son - in -law. Hey Bob, It's been a while. You are on my mind always. Pat and I are keeping the boys busy. They miss you so much. Everyone does. We are going to take the kids on that vacation you were planning on this summer. Alec said that it would make you happy. I love to talk to him about you. You will always be a perfect father and a hero to him. I was looking at all the pictures of you and the boys together. You always looked so happy to be with them, and them with you. Please try to help Mitchell deal with your death. We are all trying to help him begin to heal, but he won't let anyone in. Sometimes I am really worried about him. I suppose some of this is normal for what has happened and for the tender age he is at. Well Bob, God Bless and please send your incredible strength and love to Mitch and Alec. Close

Your boys especially they need all the strenght you can give them, as young boys I cant imagine what they are feeling?  As children we have to all appreciate all the time we have with our parents and parents with their children.   Because we never know when its our last goodbye.  Bob, can you make sure you keep an eye on my mom up there, at least till my dad gets there, hopefully it will be awhile, oh heck she dont need protection up there what am I thinking? For someone who saw so much violence and sadness you must be very very happy ~ see there is light at the end!!!  Well I hope you and Anne are talking about how proud you are of Nancy and how one day you will all be together.  Until then keep patrolling those golden streets.  May you always rest in peace Bob! Also, I don't know if Alec remembers me but I was on his team for a couple years and I remember som funny times. Mitch, I never really knew you well but the only thing I really remember was you being a ref for some of our games and getting me a drink one day..
